Current University of Nebraska Regent and former State Senator Lavon Heidemann of Elk Creek has been chosen as the new Lt. Governor.
Heidemann says he accepted the call from Governor Heineman, even though he just won election as a regent last year. . .

Heidemann served as the legislature's Appropriations Committee chairman before leaving the Unicameral due to term limits.
He replaces Rick Sheehy, who resigned.
