U-S Nebraska Senator Mike Johanns says the federal government's approval of the Keystone XL oil pipeline will benefit the entire country.

Senator Johanns had earlier stated he supported the project but not through the Sand Hills area of Nebraska and through the Ogallala Aquifer. He is pleased that the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality and Governor Heineman approved the alternate route.
Senator Johanns says he will be doing everything he can to get the project "green - lighted" at the federal level so it can move forward.
U-S Nebraska Senator Mike Johanns says the Keystone XL pipeline will bring economic growth to Nebraska and the rest of the nation. Senator Johanns says this will also increase our energy supply from a friendly neighbor.

Senator Johanns fought against the first route planned through Nebraska as it went through the Sand Hills and the Ogallala Aquifer. He is pleased the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality approved the alternate route and that Governor Heineman signed off on it. Senator Johanns says he will now do his part on Capitol Hill to get the project moving.
