A Fairbury woman has pleaded guilty to driving drunk and assaulting a police officer

FAIRBURY, Neb. (AP) - A Fairbury woman has pleaded guilty to driving drunk and assaulting a police officer.

The Beatrice Daily Sun reports (http://bit.ly/UqUPnH) that 37-year-old Andrea Weber also was convicted Thursday in Gage County Court of two counts of transporting a child while intoxicated, willful reckless driving and no proof of insurance.

In exchange for her pleas, prosecutors dropped two charges: fleeing police to avoid arrest and refusal to submit to a breath test.

Court documents say Weber initially refused to pull over for Beatrice police on Oct. 31. When she did stop, police found two children, ages 3 and 4, in the car. Police say that when an officer tried to stop her from returning to her car, she kneed him in the groin.

She's set to be sentenced Feb. 25.
