NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (AP) - A North Platte former firefighter has been given 18 to 36 months in prison after pleading guilty in a drug case.

Thirty-three-year-old Aaron Vieyra, of North Platte, was sentenced on Monday by Judge Donald Rowlands of Lincoln County District Court.

Vieyra had made a plea deal with prosecutors, who lowered the charges to attempted sale of cocaine. Police say Vieyra sold cocaine drug to informants in February and March of 2011.

Vieyra resigned from the North Platte Fire Department after his arrest.
