CAMBRIDGE, Neb. (AP) - An ethanol plant in southern Nebraska has agreed to pay a civil penalty for violating its Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality permit.
The Lincoln Journal Star reports (http://bit.ly/Pu0WWf) that Nebraska Corn Processing signed a consent decree earlier this week to pay half the $12,000 penalty within 10 days and the rest within six months unless the plant didn't violate its air quality permit.
State authorities say the Cambridge plant had exceeded the volatile organic compound emissions allowed in its permit.
Nebraska Corn Processing also agreed to pay $12,000 for voluntary supplemental environmental projects.
