A North Platte man has been sentenced to prison for his role in distributing methamphetamine and cocaine.
According to U.S. Attorney Deborah Gilg’s office, 25-year-old Tomas Hernandez, of North Platte, was sentenced this week to seven years in prison for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and cocaine between January 2009 and August 2011.
Following the prison term, Hernandez will serve four years on supervised release.
Gilg’s office says Hernandez was responsible for the distribution of at least 50 grams, but less than 200 grams, of a mixture of substance containing methamphetamine. Information provided to law enforcement indicated that Hernandez was also involved in the distribution of cocaine. In April, 2011, a confidential informant working with a law enforcement task force purchased a small amount of meth from Hernandez in North Platte on two occasions.
The case was investigated by the CODE Task Force, which is made up of law enforcement agencies throughout a 22-county area in west-central and southwest Nebraska.
