Nebraska's Better Business Bureau is warning residents to be on the lookout for scams in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.
President Jim Hegarty says this happens every time there is a disaster.
Jim Hegarty:
Hegarty says those wanting to make a donation to help the victims should do so only on websites associated with legitimate organizations. He says scammers do an amazing job at mimicking websites so don't fall for added email links. If you receive a text message asking for a donation Hegarty says ignore it. Again, contact the charity directly. You can find information on charities by logging on to www.bbb.org.
