It's mating season for deer and motorists need to be on-guard for possible prancing Bambis on the roads.

An insurance company study ranks the states on where it's most likely to have a close encounter with a deer. Ann Avery, with the State Farm office in Lincoln, says the Husker State has fallen, slightly, which is a good thing.

Ann Avery:

Avery says those wrecks cost an average of 33-hundred dollars. West Virginia is the most likely place to hit a deer, followed by South Dakota and Iowa. The least likely? Hawaii.
