Authorities searching for a 10-year-old Colorado girl say they believe she was abducted by an unknown suspect, and they're confident her parents weren't involved.

DENVER (AP) - Jessica Ridgeway was last seen Friday after leaving home to meet friends at a park so they could walk to school together in the Denver suburb of Westminster.

Westminster police spokesman Trevor Materasso said Wednesday investigators believe the girl was abducted.

Police say they are pursuing tips from Nevada, Texas, Maryland and Maine, where a possible sighting of Jessica was reported.

DENVER (AP) - Investigators are still on the scene after a body was found near an open space area in the Denver suburb of Arvada.

Westminster police spokesman Trevor Materasso said Wednesday that so far, police haven't connected it to the disappearance of 10-year-old Jessica Ridgeway, whose mother last saw her leaving for school Friday. Her father lives in Independence, Mo.

The Westminster Police Department plans to release more information Thursday.

The Pattridge Park open space area south of the Rocky Flats National Wildlife Refuge is dotted with abandoned coal mine shafts. The area is favored by mountain bikers and model airplane flyers on weekends.

It is about seven miles southwest of Jessica's home and several miles south of where Jessica's backpack was found in Superior.
