The Nebraska Lottery launched a scam awareness campaign in an effort to prevent Nebraskans from becoming victims of scammers.
Lottery spokesman Neil Watson says they are regularly contacted by individuals who say an official with the lottery contacted them. Watson says that will never happen.
Neil Watson:
Watson says the Lottery never charges for a prize and would never personally contact an individual about a winning jackpot. The campaign includes tips on how to spot these scammers and what to do if one contacts you. The website is www.stoplotteryscams.com.
