Here's something else to blame on the prolonged heat wave -- higher gasoline prices.

Gail Weinholzer, spokeswoman for Triple-A-Nebraska, says the increase has been gradual, but definite, over the past several weeks. Weinholzer says there may be several reasons for the hike.

Gail Weinholzer:

The average price for a gallon of gas in Nebraska rose from $3.41 a month ago to $3.56 this week. The national average is $3.52 a gallon.
