A North Platte man has been sentenced to nearly a year in prison for possessing a firearm when he wasn’t supposed to.
The office of United State Attorney Deborah Gilg says 43-year-old Wesley Hardin Hawkins, of North Platte, was arrested in September after a resident reported Hawkins was in her residence and had a handgun. Officers found Hawkins sleeping in a bed in the woman’s residence with the butt of a revolver sticking out from under the pillow.
Hawkins was sentenced to serve 11 months in prison for being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm. Due to a 2005 conviction in Lincoln County for Third Degree Domestic Assault, Hawkins is ineligible to possess a firearm.
