NE Legislature & Governor Clash at End of Session

Governor Heineman says the legislature ended its session with mixed results, and was inconsistent in its approach to issues this year.

State lawmakers held their ground in high-profile clashes with the governor at the end of the legislative session:   Brent Martin Reports

He approves of work to reform child welfare services, to provide economic incentives and to pass tax relief. Heineman criticizes the legislature for not approving a bigger tax relief package.

Heineman strongly disagreed with two bills approved over his veto. One would allow cities to take a sales tax increase to a vote of their citizens. The second would extend prenatal coverage to illegal immigrants.
