A 26-year-old Lexington man is facing two counts of sexually assaulting a child in nearby Phelps County in 2010.
HOLDREGE, Neb. (AP) - KRVN reports (http://bit.ly/HFFPkN ) that Derrick Orvis was arrested Wednesday.
Phelps County court records say Orvis is believed to have sexually assaulted a child twice during the summer of 2010. The child was between the ages of 12 and 16, but details of the crimes were unavailable because some court records are sealed.
Orvis is a registered sex offender because he was convicted last year of attempted sexual assault of a child in Colorado.
The Nebraska State Patrol says it is investigating similar allegations against Orvis in Chase County.
Orvis is being held in lieu of $200,000 bail, and court records do not show an attorney listed to represent him.
