(WENN) - David Nail is nursing a fractured hand after he was injured during a charity softball game in Nashville, Tennessee on Saturday.

Nail, as well as stars including Carrie Underwood and Scotty McCreery, took part in the 22nd annual City of Hope Celebrity Softball Challenge, which raises funds for the cancer care center.

However, Nail was forced to take a trip to the emergency room after sustaining a minor fracture during play.

Doctors told him he also has a detached tendon, but the star is philosophical about his recovery.

He tells Taste Of Country, "You put me in the game, and I only know one speed: hard. I only play all-out, and that's what I was doing. I can't believe I broke something doing it...

"I've got a really good neurosurgeon who will look at (it) this next week, so I know I'll be okay long term. Right now, I just know I played hard, got to see a lot of the people from around the country who've been there with us over the past few years, and, hopefully, made a few new believers along the way."
