Have you ever heard of canning bread? During the Civil War, women sent a little piece of homemade love in the form of bread in a jar to the troops. Stacey Dymak would like to teach you how to make a canned quick bread. Class is Friday, May 4th from 5 to 7 PM at the Volunteers of America kitchen in Lewellen. You will come away with a pint jar of fresh bread, recipes and a lesson on an unusual way of preservation. Call Stacey at 308-770-0085 to RSVP. There will be a fee of $12 for the class.
